Welcome to Twogether FI! We’re P and J, a couple of immigrants who have made Australia our home with a shared passion for financial independence and dreams of globe-trotting adventures.
P, a Millennial with a love for travel, harbours aspirations to one day live somewhere in Asia. Meanwhile, J, a Gen-X enthusiast of world exploration, dreams of circling the globe.
Initially, our focus was on working diligently and saving meticulously to establish ourselves in Australia. As we settled, we began to salary sacrifice into our superannuation, aiming for a secure retirement by the age of 65, while also hoping to break free from the rat race as early as possible.
Our financial enlightenment began in 2016 when we stumbled upon the Financial Independence movement through book like Barefoot Investor and blogs like Mr. Money Mustache and Mad Fientist. These resources shifted our retirement goals from the traditional age of 60 to much sooner, sparking a transformative journey towards financial freedom.
Our Mission
Embarking on this journey hasn’t been straightforward. Connecting with like-minded individuals, or our “tribe,” has been challenging but rewarding. Since discovering financial independence strategies in 2016, our aspirations have evolved from simply retiring at 60 to achieving semi-financial independence by the end of 2021. This new goal will allow us to step away from the full-time rat race while still engaging in fulfilling projects.
Now, with our salaries nearing the six-figure mark and additional income from side hustles, we’re inching closer to our goal. We’re thrilled about this new chapter and eager to share our experiences, insights, and lessons with you.
